Do they know it’s Europe ist ein multilinguales Musikvideo der Comedians for Worldpeace, das am 22. Mai 2019 unter ungewöhnlichen Umständen veröffentlicht wurde. Beteiligt an dem Video waren Moderatoren populärer satirischer und humoristischer Late-Night-Formate diverser EU-Länder sowie der Schweiz, Norwegens und Armeniens. Eine ähnliche, länderübergreifende Zusammenarbeit satirischer Fernsehshows gab es bereits 2017 mit dem Wettbewerb Every Second Counts.

1972 hat der Europarat einen Ausschnitt des Vorspiels zur Ode an die Freude der 9. Symphonie Beethovens als Europäische Hymne angenommen.

What happens if you put young people together who do not speak the same language, but are connected with each other via music? During the festival editions for student orchestras ESOF ‘17 and ESOF ‘18 in Leuven and Strasbourg, this concept of a united European Student Orchestra was established.

Seit 1956 wird er von den öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten ausgerichtet, die in der Europäischen Rundfunkunion (European Broadcasting Union - EBU) zusammengeschlossen sind. Da die Mitgliedschaft in der EBU nicht an rein geografische Kriterien gebunden ist, können sich auch Rundfunkanstalten beteiligen, die außerhalb Europas liegen. Darum ist der Wettbewerb auch kein European Song Contest, wie er oft fälschlicherweise genannt wird. Sender aus 56 Ländern sind teilnahmeberechtigt, seit 2015 dank einer Ausnahmeregelung, auch Australien.

The Music Moves Europe Talent Awards are the new European Union Prize for popular and contemporary music. The awards celebrate emerging artists who represent the European sound of today and tomorrow. Every year, eight outstanding artists will receive a Music Moves Europe Talent Award in recognition of their international success, as well as being rewarded with a performance at ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) and financial support for touring and promotion. In addition to this, one of sixteen nominees takes home the Public Choice Award.

The Voices of Europe Project ist der Name des neuen Chores, der Menschen mit unterschiedlichen europäischen Wurzeln und Geschichten versammelt. Es ist aber auch der Name eines Experiments oder – wenn man so will – einer Bewegung.
